Your best shot at capturing a good photograph of you and your catch, is first having someone along with you that's competent with a camera in their hands. But even a world class photographer will tell you, it's extremely difficult getting those picture perfect photographs, if the person handling the fish has no clue what their doing.
I went fishing today, and I caught a wild trout on a costal river. I was not able to get a picture of it because I didn't want to keep it out of the water for too long, but I can describe it.It was about 5 inches, and it had red pectoral fins with a white outline.
So, I have been trout fishing for quite a while and I release most of the time. I use a plier and rubber net. Usually I net the fish, take it out of water and unhook, take a photo in net and release, and it takes less than half a minute.
2.5lb tippet I thought was going to snap at any given point on 3wt rod bent like a candy cane. Unbelievably difficult to net and a long ass fight but she fully recovered for the release.Unreal day
Took my son out to a pond owned by a ckub we belong to where they stock trout for put and take (literally not allowed to release). He managed to catch his limit for the first time in about a year so I was super proud. He also got a nice black crappie (most are around 5" here).
We stayed at a lodge outside of Hancock NY last weekend, and my daughter, 15yr got her first Rainbow. And was her first catch on a fly rod. Did a good netting and release. #16 Hendricks. Super proud of her.

I SPOTTED THIS LITTLE GUY IN A HATCHERY SUPPORTED STREAM IN NORTH CAROLINA AND FISHED TO HIM UNTIL I CAUGHT HIM SO I COULD GET A PHOTO. While not common exactly, deformities like this are not unusual in either hatcheries or in the wild but you seldom see a 'special' fish like this in a wild stream.
