Bronzeback. Smallie. Micropterus Dolomieu. Smallmouth Bass. They are fighters; hardy fish with toughness and aggression matched only by those who relentlessly hunt them with feathers and steel.

I'm looking for an 8wt fly rod for largemouth bass, throwing Clousers and poppers... the standard LMB flies so a fast action rod would be good. I was also considering the Echo 84B.

Some fish turn into goals you measure seasons against. For Kieran Hoffman, the chase for a true double-digit largemouth had followed him for years. He’d come close, but never on the fly, and after more than a decade of casting and learning, it started to feel less like a dream and more like unfinished business.

By Justin Pickett As a beginner in the fly fishing world, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. And confused and while meandering aimlessly through a fly shop, or magazine, or a “big box” sporting goods store.
